The Opportunity. Electric vehicles can do more than move people. When integrated with the grid, they function as distributed energy resources that are capable of stabilizing supply, reducing peak demand, and strengthening resilience against disruptions.
The MassCEC V2X Demonstration Program has been advancing that potential by supporting EV projects across residential, commercial, and school communities, with the path forward to scale assistance and expertise statewide.
What the Evidence Shows. Regulatory inconsistency, limited charging infrastructure, and poor stakeholder coordination have slowed V2X deployment worldwide far more than technology limitations.
The Report. Draws on national and international V2X pilot programs to deliver practical takeaways on policy, funding, regulatory, and coordination considerations for installers, utilities, customers, and communities advancing V2X deployment across Massachusetts.
The Way Ahead. Findings will drive regional workshops across Massachusetts and inform a guidebook summarizing key lessons from the MassCEC V2X Demonstration Program.
