Clean Energy for Critical Infrastructure
In Short.
Converge Strategies helps communities keep their critical facilities up and running using onsite clean energy.
Why It Matters.
- The risk of power outages is growing more severe.
- Communities must provide lifeline services like food, water, medical care, and public safety even when the grid goes down.
- Clean energy technologies such as solar and storage can provide back-up power to critical neighborhood facilities and vulnerable populations.
- There is a need to identify resilience solutions for specific types of critical facilities that can be scaled nationally.
What It Is.
Converge Strategies and its partners worked with the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center to advance energy resilience for different types of critical community facilities across the state.
Our Impact.
- The CLEAR team developed clean energy system designs and financing strategies tailored to support specific types of critical community services.
- The team identified replicable resilience solutions for emergency shelters, police stations, fire stations, and healthcare facilities.
- The community partners are using the results of the CLEAR program to pursue state and federal funding and get the projects built.
Who’s Involved.
- MassCEC is a state economic development agency dedicated to accelerating the growth of the clean energy sector across the Commonwealth.
- Converge Strategies partnered with the RAND Corporation, Ridgeline Energy Analytics, and XENDEE to deliver the CLEAR Program to Massachusetts towns and cities.
