Alex Pina

Alex Pina, Principal, Converge Strategies

Alex Pina is a technical expert who has pioneered transformative innovations for energy resilience, critical infrastructure, and national security. He has developed several processes to identify critical infrastructure vulnerabilities, design cost-effective solutions, and secure project funding. This work has directly benefited communities, cities, states, federal government agencies, and the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD).

In his work with the DoD, Alex created a framework for military installations to translate mission requirements into infrastructure projects to be made in their surrounding communities in partnership with utilities. He has expanded Converge Strategies technical practice since joining the team in 2021, and leads the firm’s Community and Installation Resilience portfolio focused on identifying solutions to increase the resilience of our infrastructure systems.

Before joining Converge Strategies, Alex invented the Energy Resilience Readiness Exercise (ERRE) program that uses real-world power outages to identify vulnerabilities in energy infrastructure and the Energy Resilience Assessment (ERA) Tool that compares potential techno-economic benefits of energy resilience solutions. Each development from his time in the MIT Lincoln Laboratory Energy Systems Group is still required throughout the DOD to inform and prioritize resilient infrastructure planning.
