Jonathon Monken

Jonathon Monken specializes in energy resilience strategy development for electric utilities, military installations, large commercial energy consumers, and community critical infrastructure. He designs energy resilience programs and planning resources for Federal and State government agencies, Fortune 100 companies, and electric utilities.

Jonathon led efforts to develop new programs and resources for energy emergency response for State Energy Offices (SEO) and Public Utility Commissions (PUCs), energy assurance requirements for DoD missions, and resilience planning models for large energy consumers. As a trained facilitator, he has designed and led cybersecurity exercises in electricity, natural gas, and water wastewater for utility clients and government agencies.

Before joining Converge Strategies, he was the Senior Director of System Resilience at PJM Interconnection, the largest grid operator in North America. There he developed new resilience strategies to integrate transmission planning, system operations, physical and cybersecurity, and energy markets. His work in critical infrastructure began while serving as the Director of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and State Homeland Security Advisor to the Governor.

Jonathon is a 21-year Army veteran with multiple combat deployments who is currently assigned to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). His awards include the Bronze Star Medal and the Army Commendation Medal with ā€œVā€ Device for Valor in Combat.
