What’s Happening. Electricity demand is surging, driven by the explosion of AI-powered data centers and the broader shift to electrification. That demand is hitting the grid all at once, and supply isn’t keeping pace.
Why It Matters. Consumers are already absorbing the cost, with rates up 20% in Buffalo alone this year. The clean energy industry has failed to explain itself, and that failure is now showing up in state capitols, in utility bills, and at the polls.
